Simply Legendary

The slogan used by the tourist office for this resort goes thus: Kitzbuhel – the legend. And it's not an understatement. What it lacks in high altitude skiing, it makes up for in pure Austrian charm, the beauty of the medieval town matched by that of the visitors: this is another resort which attracts the wealthy and the well-heeled. The skiing in Kitzbuhel is serious – this is after all a resort synonymous with  Austrian ski legend Franz Klammer and the Hahnenkamm race, where competitors reach speeds of 140kph. If you're not quite that standard there's still plenty of pistes to choose from – 158 kilometres worth in fact, including a 'Ski Safari' which covers 35 kilometres and includes neighbouring resorts.

Après ski in Kitzbuhel is refined and sophisticated although the town does have four discos to complement the chicer restaurants and bars.
