Expansive snow sure resort

Once the ugly sister to neighbouring Portes du Soleil resort Morzine, Avoriaz has recently seen a huge injection of investment and is emerging as a destination resort in its own right. Its unique architecture and placement, perched high above Morzine on a cliff, make it a striking resort and its height at 1,800 metres mean it's pretty snow sure even when other resorts on the Domain du Portes du Soleil liftpass are suffering. The pass itself gives you access to 600 kilometres of piste and legendary freestyle areas including the Burton Stash.

Avoriaz itself is car-free, the town centre playing host to a large open air ice skating rink. It makes for a laidback resort. While the skiing in Avoriaz is pretty epic, the nightlife is more chilled. Après ski tends to be lively however with slopeside Changabangs and Chez Flo being the bars and eateries of choice. A corporate event in Avoriaz would be a combination of superb days on the hill followed by buzzing après and relaxed nights. Perfect if you need to get some work done the following morning.
