La Fête de la Musique

Fête de la Musique happens every Summer – this year it is on 21st June – not just in Chamonix but across France, from villages to cities. The festival get special dispensation from the French authorities who waive normal licensing laws, allowing one to party throughout the night – until they give up or fall over. A little like New Years Eve but in warm weather. Its one of the best nights in Chamonix across the year.
It starts in the afternoon and despite its name, it is not a typical music festival but a street party with live bands playing in a range of bars and restaurants on the streets and encompasses every type of music imaginable, from local yooung bands, to professional classical musicians, from club DJ’s to traditional folk bands.
A fantastic night not to be missed by locals or tourists alike. Nor is it a bad time to host a corporate event in Chamonix as you have a ready made street party for your guests.
